Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about the Takt Production System® for Students.
What is the Takt Production System®?
The Takt Production System® is a construction planning methodology that uses takt time to create smooth, continuous workflow across trades and teams. It eliminates waste, reduces delays, and improves project efficiency and it’s taught in this free 9-part course by Jason Schroeder.
By the end of this 9-video course you will know how to:
No experience is required. The course starts with a complete Takt introduction in Video 1 and gradually builds up to advanced planning techniques. It is designed specifically for students who are new to production planning.
Miro is a free online collaborative whiteboard tool used throughout this course to visually build and map Takt plans. To use it, simply create a free account at miro.com, and follow along with Jason as he walks you through each planning step directly on the board during the videos.
This course is currently free and self-paced on YouTube, so it does not include a formal certificate. However, the practical skills and frameworks you gain are directly applicable to real construction projects and can strengthen your academic and professional portfolio.
The Last Planner® System is a collaborative, short-term planning process that involves frontline supervisors and trade foremen in weekly scheduling. When combined with Takt, it keeps the day-to-day work commitments aligned with the overall Takt rhythm. Video 7 covers exactly how to run Pull Planning sessions using both systems together.
